Praying in Two Groups on Dhat ar-Riqa

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed one raka with one group and the remaining raka with another group on the day of Dhat ar-Riqa.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yazid ibn Ruman from Salih ibn Khawwat from someone who had prayed (the prayer of fear) with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that: on the day of Dhat ar-Riqa that one group had formed a row with him and one group had formed a row opposite the enemy. He then prayed one raka with the group he was with, and then remained standing while they finished by themselves. They then left and formed a row opposite the enemy, and then the other group came and he prayed the remaining raka of his prayer with them, and then remained sitting while they finished by themselves. Then he said the taslim with them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful when praying in groups; Maintain orderliness during prayer; Be aware of your surroundings when you are in danger or fear; Fulfill religious obligations even during battle times for safety reasons

EXPLANATIONS:
On the day of Dhat ar-Riqa, Prophet Muhammad PBUH demonstrated a unique way of praying. He first formed a row with one group and then prayed one raka with them before they finished by themselves. Then he left that group and formed a row opposite the enemy before forming another row with another group to pray his remaining raka. After finishing his prayer he said taslim with them. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful when praying in groups as it is important to maintain orderliness during prayer so that everyone can focus on their worship without any distractions or disruptions. It also shows us how important it is to be mindful of our surroundings when we are in danger or fear as this was done by Prophet Muhammad PBUH during battle times for safety reasons while still fulfilling his religious obligations at the same time.
