The Burden of Passing in Front of Someone Praying

SUMMARY: Passing in front of someone who is praying is discouraged and can bring upon oneself a great burden.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'n Nadr, the mawla of Umar ibn Ubaydullah from Busr ibn Said that Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani sent him to Abu Juhaym to ask him what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about passing in front of someone praying. Abu Juhaym said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'If the one who passes in front of a man praying knew what he was bringing upon himself it would be better for him to stop for forty than to pass in front of him'. " Abu'n-Nadr said, "I do not know whether he said forty days or months or years".

Be respectful when passing near someone who is worshipping Allah ï·» .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of respecting those who are praying by not passing in front of them. It was narrated by Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'n Nadr, the mawla of Umar ibn Ubaydullah from Busr ibn Said that Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani sent him to Abu Juhaym. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if someone passes in front of a man praying they should know what burden they are bringing upon themselves and it would be better for them to stop for forty days than pass in front of them. This hadith teaches us the importance and value respect for those who are worshipping Allah ï·» and how we should be mindful when we pass near someone who is praying so as not to disturb their worship or cause any distraction or disruption. We should also remember that our actions have consequences and if we do something wrong then there will be a price to pay for it which could last up to forty days or more depending on what has been done wrong.
