Inviting Others to Pray

SUMMARY: Umar ibn al-Khattab was praying a voluntary prayer and invited Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba to join him in the prayer.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba said, "I visited Umar ibn al-Khattab just before noon and found him praying a voluntary prayer. So I stood behind him, but he pulled me nearer and put me next to him, on his right hand side, and then Yarfa came and I moved back and we formed a row behind him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Encourage others in doing good deeds like praying regularly .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of inviting others to pray. Umar ibn al-Khattab was praying a voluntary prayer and he invited Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba to join him in the prayer. This shows us that we should always be inviting others to do good deeds such as praying and other acts of worship. We should also be encouraging our family members and friends to do good deeds as well so that they can benefit from them too. It is important for us all to remember that we are responsible for our own actions but it is also important for us all to help each other out by encouraging one another in doing good deeds like praying regularly.
