This hadith speaks about the importance of salat or prayer in Islam. It is narrated by Yahya and Malik that Ali ibn Abi Talib and Abdullah ibn Abbas said that the middle prayer or salat al-wusta is the most important one. This means that it should be given priority over other prayers as it has a special significance in Islam. It is also mentioned that out of all what Malik heard about this matter, he preferred what Ali ibn Abi Talib and Abdullah ibn Abbas said which shows how highly they valued this particular prayer.
