(Book 3, Hadith 70) #35271
Prayer Etiquette of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed two rakahs and then stood without sitting, and when he finished the prayer, he said "Allah is greater" and did two sajdas from the sitting position.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from al-Araj that Abdullah ibn Buhayna said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, prayed two rakahs with us and then stood without sitting and the people stood with him. When he had finished the prayer and we had seen him say the taslim, he said 'Allah is greater' and did two sajdas from the sitting position and then said the taslim again".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident in which the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) demonstrated proper etiquette for prayer. After praying two rakahs, he stood without sitting down and continued to stand until the end of his prayer. He then concluded his prayer with a taslim before saying “Allah is greater” and performing two sajdas while still seated. This hadith teaches us that we should stand during our prayers unless we are unable to do so due to physical limitations or illness, as well as how we should conclude our prayers with a taslim followed by saying “Allah is greater” before performing any additional prostrations or other acts of worship. It also serves as an example of how Muslims should conduct themselves during their daily prayers in order to show respect for Allah's commands.
