Eating and Drinking Until Adhan is Called

SUMMARY: Bilal calls the adhan in the night, and people should eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls the adhan.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Bilal calls the adhan whilst it is still night so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls the adhan".

QUICK LESSONS:

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about eating and drinking until a certain time. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that Bilal would call the adhan while it was still night. He then said that people should eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum called the adhan. This means that people should not stop eating or drinking too early before prayer time because they will be hungry or thirsty during prayer. It also teaches us to be mindful of our actions so we can properly perform our prayers without any distractions or discomfort. Additionally, this hadith shows us how important it is to listen to those who are in authority over us such as religious leaders like Bilal who call for prayer times.
