The Mountain of Uhud

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) ascended the mountain of Uhud and it shook beneath them. He then hit it with his foot and said that on the mountain there is none but a Prophet, a Siddiq and two martyrs.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet ascended the mountain of Uhud and he was accompanied by Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Uthman. The mountain shook beneath them. The Prophet hit it with his foot and said, "O Uhud ! Be firm, for on you there is none but a Prophet, a Siddiq and a martyr (ie and two martyrs).
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، وَقَالَ، لِي خَلِيفَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَوَاءٍ، وَكَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ صَعِدَ النَّبِيُّ إِلَى أُحُدٍ وَمَعَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ فَرَجَفَ بِهِمْ، فَضَرَبَهُ بِرِجْلِهِ، قَالَ ‏ "‏ اثْبُتْ أُحُدُ فَمَا عَلَيْكَ إِلاَّ نَبِيٌّ أَوْ صِدِّيقٌ أَوْ شَهِيدَانِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the time when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ascended the mountain of Uhud with three companions; Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman. As they climbed up, the mountain shook beneath them. In response to this, he hit it with his foot and said that on this mountain there will be none but a prophet, a siddiq and two martyrs. This hadith teaches us about faith in Allah SWT as well as loyalty to Him even in difficult times. It also shows us how much respect we should have for our prophets who are sent by Allah SWT to guide us towards righteousness. Furthermore, it teaches us about perseverance in times of difficulty as well as patience when faced with challenges or obstacles in life. Lastly, it reminds us that we should always strive for excellence even if we face difficulties along our journey because ultimately Allah SWT will reward those who remain steadfast in their faith despite all odds against them.
