The Importance of Wudu After Ghusl

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar taught his son Salim that it is important to perform wudu after performing ghusl if one has touched their private parts.

Yahya related from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Salim ibn Abdullah said, "I saw my father Abdullah ibn Umar, do ghusl and then do wudu. I said to him, 'Father, isn't ghusl enough for you?' He said, 'Of course, but sometimes I touch my penis, so I do wudu'. "

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of cleanliness and purity in Islam. It was narrated by Yahya from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Salim ibn Abdullah said he saw his father, Abdullah ibn Umar do ghusl and then do wudu. When Salim asked why he did this even though ghusl was enough for him, his father replied that sometimes he touches his penis so he does wudu as a precautionary measure to remain pure and clean. This hadith shows us the importance of maintaining cleanliness in our lives according to Islamic teachings. It also teaches us the importance of following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who himself used to perform ablution after taking a ritual bath as a precautionary measure against impurity or uncleanness.
