Wudu and Praying Over a Dead Person

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar performed wudu and wiped over his leather socks before praying over a dead person in the mosque.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar urinated in the market place and then did wudu, washing his face and hands and wiping his head. Then as soon as he had come into the mosque, he was called to pray over a dead person, so he wiped over his leather socks and prayed.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform proper ablution before praying; Be prepared for prayer at all times; Keep yourself clean even when you are away from home or outside of the mosque; Take care while performing your ablutions so you can be ready for prayer whenever needed without having too much time or not being able to do it properly due lack of resources or time constraints .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of performing wudu before praying over a dead person in the mosque. It is narrated by Yahya who heard it from Malik who heard it from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar urinated in the market place and then did wudu, washing his face and hands and wiping his head. After this he was called to pray over a dead person so he wiped over his leather socks instead of taking them off for wudhu again as this would have taken too long. This hadith teaches us that we should always be prepared for prayer by keeping ourselves clean at all times even if we are outside of the mosque or away from home. We should also take care to perform our ablutions properly so that we can be ready for prayer whenever needed without having to worry about taking too much time or not being able to do it properly due to lack of resources or time constraints.
