Covering Mouth While Praying

SUMMARY: Salim ibn Abdullah used to pull away the cloth from the mouth of anyone he saw covering their mouth while praying.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Mujabbar that he used to see Salim ibn Abdullah pull the cloth away fiercely from the mouth of any man he saw covering his mouth while praying.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take action against wrongdoing in a respectful manner; Focus on prayer; Treat others with kindness even if they are doing something wrong; Do not ignore wrongdoings; Respect others' beliefs and practices .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Salim ibn Abdullah used to take action when he saw someone covering their mouth while praying. He would pull away the cloth that was being used to cover the person's mouth. This shows us that it is not permissible for a person to cover their face or mouth while they are in prayer as it can be a distraction and prevent them from focusing on what they are saying. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions and take action if we see something wrong being done by others. We should not just stand by and watch but instead try to correct it in a respectful manner.

This hadith also teaches us about respect for others and how we should treat them with kindness even if they are doing something wrong or inappropriate. We should not be too harsh with our words or actions but instead try to gently guide them towards what is right without causing any harm or disrespect towards them. It also reminds us of the importance of prayer and how we must focus on what we are saying during this time so that our prayers can be accepted by Allah SWT.
