(Book 1, Hadith 27) #35084
Delaying Prayers During Scorching Heat

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us that when the heat is too intense, we should delay our prayers until it gets cooler. He also explained that Allah has allowed the fire of Hell two breaths in every year, one in winter and one in summer.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Scorching heat is a part of the blast of Jahannam. So, when the heat is fierce, delay the prayer until it gets cooler". He added in explanation, "The Fire complained to its Lord and said, 'My Lord, part of me has eaten another part,' so He allowed it two breaths in every year, a breath in winter and a breath in summer".

QUICK LESSONS:
Delay prayer during scorching heat if necessary for self-care purposes

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaches us about delaying our prayers during scorching heat. He explains that when it is too hot outside, we should wait until it cools down before praying. This is because Allah has allowed the fire of Hell two breaths each year - one in winter and one in summer - which makes it even hotter than usual. The Prophet's advice here shows us how important it is to take care of ourselves and not put ourselves through unnecessary hardship or danger. It also reminds us to be mindful of Allah's mercy and power over all things, including the fire of Hell itself.
