Catching the Raka'ah and Sajda

SUMMARY: The raka'ah and sajda are two important parts of prayer, and whoever catches the raka'ah has caught the sajda.

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Abdullah ibn Umar and Zayd ibn Thabit used to say, "Whoever catches the raka'ah has caught the sajda".

TOPICS
prayer  *  raka  *  sujud  *  rakaah  *  sajda

QUICK LESSONS:
Do one's best to perform each part of prayer properly so that it can be accepted by Allah SWT; follow instructions carefully; understand importance of both parts equally; be mindful during prayers; have faith in Allah SWT's acceptance .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about prayer. It tells us that when we pray, there are two important parts of it called the raka’ah and sajda. The raka’ah is when we stand up straight with our hands folded in front of us while reciting certain verses from the Quran. After this part is done, we go into a position called sajda where we bow down on our knees with our forehead touching the ground. This hadith teaches us that if you catch or do one part correctly then you have also caught or done the other part correctly as well. In other words, if you do your best to perform each part properly then your prayer will be accepted by Allah SWT.
