Narrated Muhammad bin Al-Hanafiya: I asked my father ('Ali bin Abi Talib), "Who are the best people after Allah's Messenger ?" He said, "Abu Bakr". I asked, "Who then?" He said, "Then 'Umar". I was afraid he would say "Uthman, so I said, "Then you?" He said, "I am only an ordinary person.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates a conversation between Muhammad bin Al-Hanafiya and his father Ali bin Abi Talib (RA). When asked who are the best people after Allah's Messenger (PBUH), his father replied Abu Bakr and then Umar. He was afraid that his father would say Uthman so he asked if it was him instead. His father humbly declined saying he is only an ordinary person. This hadith teaches us about humility and how even great personalities like Ali Bin Abi Talib were humble enough to not boast about their achievements or rank themselves higher than others. It also shows us that we should always be humble no matter what our accomplishments are or what position we hold in society as pride can lead to arrogance which is disliked by Allah SWT.
