Donate generously towards good causes such as jihad.

This hadith is about donating for jihad and refraining from unnecessary spending. It was narrated by az-Zubair bin al-'Awwam that a man gave a mare called Ghamrah or Ghamr [for jihad], then he found a horse or a colt for sale which was said to be from that mare, but he was told not to buy it. This hadith teaches us the importance of donating money towards good causes such as jihad and also encourages us to refrain from unnecessary spending. We should only spend our money on things we need rather than buying something just because it is available at an attractive price. The lesson here is that we should always think twice before making any purchase decisions so as not to waste our hard earned money on things we don't really need.
