Musnad Ahmad 1337 (Book 5, Hadith 738) #34964
Proclaiming the Might of Allah During Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade reciting the Quran while bowing and prostrating, instead he encouraged to proclaim the might of Allah and offer supplication during these times.

It was narrated from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) that a man asked him: Can I recite Qur'an when bowing and prostrating? 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah said: "I have been forbidden to recite Qur'an when bowing and prostrating. When you bow, then proclaim the might of Allah, and when you prostrate, offer supplication, for it is more likely that you will receive an answer".

QUICK LESSONS:
Focus on praising God during prayers; Make sincere supplications; Respect religion; Proclaim the might of Allah; Offer supplication

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about prayer, which is one of the five pillars of Islam. It was narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib that a man asked him if it was permissible to recite Qur’an while bowing and prostrating in prayer. In response, Ali quoted a saying from Prophet Muhammad who said that he had been forbidden to recite Qur’an when bowing and prostrating. Instead, he encouraged people to proclaim the might of Allah and offer supplications during these times as it is more likely that they will receive an answer from Him. This hadith teaches us that we should focus on praising God during our prayers rather than just reciting verses from the Quran as this will bring us closer to Him. We should also make sure we are sincere in our supplications so that God may answer them for us.
