Musnad Ahmad 1289 (Book 5, Hadith 693) #34919
Prohibitions of Riba, Tattoos and Wailing for the Dead

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) cursed those who partake in riba (usury), tattoos, and wailing for the dead, as well as those who withhold zakah.

It was narrated from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) that he said: The Messenger of Allah cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who pays it, the one who witness it, the one who writes it down, the woman who does tattoos, the woman who has tattoos done, the one who marries a woman and divorces her so that she becomes permissible for her first husband, and the one for whom that is done, and the one who withholds zakah. And he forbade wailing for the dead.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic Law; Do Good Deeds like Giving Charity; Help Others In Need .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad is teaching us about certain prohibitions that are forbidden in Islam. He curses those who partake in usury or riba which is a form of lending money with an interest rate attached to it. He also curses those who get tattoos or have them done on others as well as wailing for the dead which is a practice of expressing grief through loud cries and lamentations. Lastly, he forbids withholding zakat which is a form of charity that Muslims must pay annually if they meet certain criteria such as having wealth above a certain amount. These teachings remind us to stay away from activities that are not permissible according to Islamic law and instead focus on doing good deeds such as giving charity and helping others in need.
