The Noble Companions of the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad was given fourteen noble companions, including Abu Bakr, Umar, Abdullah bin Mas'ood and Ammar bin Yasir.

It was narrated that Salim bin Abi Hafsah said: A man narrated to me from 'Abdullah bin Mulail that he said: I heard 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: Each Prophet was given seven nobles, but your Prophet was given fourteen nobles, including Abu Bakr, ʻUmar, 'Abdullah bin Mas'ood and 'Ammar bin Yasir. (رضي الله عنهم)
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ، قَالَ بَلَغَنِي عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُلَيْلٍ، فَغَدَوْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَوَجَدْتُهُمْ فِي جَنَازَةٍ فَحَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُلَيْلٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ أُعْطِيَ كُلُّ نَبِيٍّ سَبْعَةَ نُجَبَاءَ وَأُعْطِيَ نَبِيُّكُمْ أَرْبَعَةَ عَشَرَ نَجِيبًا مِنْهُمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَعَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the fourteen noble companions of the Prophet Muhammad. These companions were chosen by Allah to be with the prophet and help him spread his message to all mankind. They were known for their piety and righteousness and are an example for us to follow in our lives today. Among these fourteen companions are some of the most famous names in Islamic history such as Abu Bakr, Umar, Abdullah bin Mas’ood and Ammaar Bin Yassir who were all close friends of the prophet himself. These men devoted their lives to serving Allah through spreading His message and helping others in need which is why they are remembered so fondly even today. We can learn from their example that we should strive to be righteous people who serve Allah through our actions rather than just words alone.
