EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the prayer routine of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He used to pray eight rak’ah of voluntary prayers, which are extra prayers that are not obligatory, and twelve rak’ah during the day. These extra prayers were done in addition to his five daily obligatory prayers. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to do more than what is required from us in our religious duties, as it is a way for us to gain more rewards from Allah SWT. It also shows us how important it was for the Prophet ﷺ himself to go above and beyond in his worship of Allah SWT, setting an example for all Muslims after him.
