QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity according to what you can afford; strive to do good deeds for others whenever possible; take care of those who are less fortunate than yourself.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the relief given by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his followers regarding zakat. Zakat is a form of charity that Muslims are obligated to pay in order to purify their wealth and help those in need. In this hadith, the Prophet ﷺ has relieved people from paying zakah on horses and slaves; however they should still give one quarter of one tenth as an act of charity. This teaches us that even though we may be exempt from certain obligations due to our circumstances or resources, we should still strive to do good deeds for others whenever possible. It also shows us how important it is for us to take care of those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
