Musnad Ahmad 1171 (Book 5, Hadith 583) #34809
Sharing is Caring

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was given a suit of silk and he gave it to Ali, who went out wearing it. The Prophet (PBUH) became angry and told him to divide it among his womenfolk instead.

It was narrated that Abu Salih said: I heard 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) say: A suit of silk was given to the Messenger of Allah and he sent it to me. I went out wearing it, and the Messenger of Allah was so angry that I could see anger on his face. He said: "I did not give it to you to wear it". Then he told me to divide it among my womenfolk.

QUICK LESSONS:
Share your blessings with those around you who may need them more than yourself .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of sharing and generosity. It tells us that when we are given something, we should not keep it for ourselves but rather share it with others. In this case, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was given a suit of silk as a gift and he gave it to Ali who went out wearing it. However, the Prophet became angry because he did not give the suit to Ali so that he could wear it himself; instead, he wanted him to share the gift with his womenfolk by dividing up the fabric amongst them. This teaches us that when we receive something from someone else, we should think about how we can use our gifts in ways that benefit others too. We should be generous with what Allah has blessed us with and share our blessings with those around us who may need them more than ourselves.
