This hadith discusses the ruling of wiping over leather slippers for travelers and non-travelers. It was narrated from Shuraih bin Hani that he asked 'Aishah about wiping over the khuffain. She said to ask Ali about it as he used to go out on campaign with the Messenger of Allah. When asked, Ali said that for a traveler it is three days and nights while for one who is not travelling it is one day and night. Muhammad then clarified that although Ali thought this ruling was attributed to the Prophet but he was afraid to say so. The main idea behind this hadith is that there are different rulings based on whether someone is traveling or not when it comes to wiping over leather slippers. It teaches us that we should be aware of different rulings in Islam depending on our situation or circumstances in life as they can vary from person to person or situation to situation.
