Waking Up During the Last Ten Nights of Ramadan

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to wake up his family during the last ten nights of Ramadan and tie up his izar.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah used to wake his family up during the last ten nights of Ramadan and tie up his izar.

Stay awake during these blessed nights in order to gain maximum benefit from them; Be mindful about clothing & dress modestly at all times; Strive to emulate example set by beloved prophet .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by 'Ali ibn Abi Talib tells us that the Prophet Muhammad used to wake up his family during the last ten nights of Ramadan and tie up his garment known as an ‘izar’. This is a reminder for us to stay awake during these blessed nights in order to gain maximum benefit from them. It is also a reminder for us to be mindful of our clothing and dress modestly at all times. We should strive to emulate the example set by our beloved Prophet in all aspects of life, including how we spend our time in worship and how we dress ourselves.

The last ten days of Ramadan are especially important because they contain Laylat al-Qadr, which is one of the most blessed nights in Islam. On this night, Allah's mercy descends upon His servants like raindrops from heaven and He forgives those who sincerely repent for their sins. Therefore it is important that we make use of this opportunity by staying awake throughout these nights so that we can reap its rewards both spiritually and physically.
