Respect your elders even if they are misguided or have wrong beliefs; bury their bodies properly according to Islamic teachings; offer supplications on behalf of deceased seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT

This hadith speaks of the importance of burying the dead, as well as offering supplications for them. It was narrated that 'Ali ibn Abi Talib said that when his uncle Abu Talib died, he went to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and informed him of this news. The Prophet ﷺ instructed him to go bury his uncle, and not do anything else until he returned back to him. After Ali buried his uncle, the Prophet ﷺ told him to perform ghusl then prayed for Ali offering supplications that he would not like anything else instead of them. This hadith teaches us about respecting our elders even if they are misguided or have wrong beliefs; we should still respect their dead bodies by burying them properly according to Islamic teachings. We should also offer supplications for those who have passed away in order to seek forgiveness from Allah on their behalf.
