The Consequences of Lying About Dreams

SUMMARY: Lying about one's dream is a sin and will lead to punishment in Hell.

It was narrated from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Prophet said: "Whoever lies about his dream deliberately, let him take his place in Hell".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ الْبَاهِلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ مَنْ كَذَبَ فِي الرُّؤْيَا مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنْ النَّارِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by 'Ali ibn Abi Talib and it speaks about the consequences of lying about one's dreams. It states that whoever lies deliberately about his dream will take his place in Hell as a punishment for this sin. This hadith teaches us that we should be honest and truthful when speaking about our dreams or anything else for that matter. We should not lie or exaggerate the truth as it can have serious consequences in the afterlife. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as a reminder to us to be mindful of our words and actions so that we can avoid any form of punishment from Allah SWT in the hereafter.
