Musnad Ahmad 1076 (Book 5, Hadith 494) #34720
Praying After 'Asr

SUMMARY: It is not recommended to pray after 'Asr unless the sun is still high.

It was narrated from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) from the Prophet that he said: "Do not pray after 'Asr unless you pray when the sun is still high". Sufyan said: I do not know whether he meant in Makkah or anywhere close.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray at designated times .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith advises Muslims not to pray after the time of Asr prayer unless the sun is still high in the sky. The Prophet Muhammad was reported to have said this by Ali ibn Abi Talib and Sufyan. This means that it is best for Muslims to perform their prayers at their designated times as prescribed by Allah in order for them to receive maximum reward from Allah. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of our time and use it wisely so that we can benefit from it in both worldly matters and religious matters such as prayer.
