QUICK LESSONS:
Be humble , Respect others with higher ranks or knowledge than you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates a conversation between Ali ibn Abi Talib and his companion, Abu Juhaifah. In this conversation, Ali was asked who he thought was the best person after the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to which he replied himself. However, Ali then went on to explain that in fact it was not him but rather it was firstly Abu Bakr followed by Umar who were superior in rank after the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This hadith teaches us that we should always be humble and recognize those who are superior to us in rank or knowledge even if we ourselves may have some level of superiority over them. It also teaches us that we should always strive to recognize those who are more knowledgeable than us or have higher ranks than us as they are closer to Allah than ourselves. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as a reminder for all Muslims that they should respect and honor both companions of the Prophet - namely; Abu Bakr and Umar - for their great contributions towards Islam during their lifetime.
