The Sunnah of Witr Prayer

SUMMARY: Witr is not an obligatory prayer, but it is a Sunnah established by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: Witr is not a must like the obligatory prayers, but it is a Sunnah established by the Messenger of Allah .

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow sunnahs established by Prophet Muhammad PBUH .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith states that the witr prayer is not an obligatory prayer like the five daily prayers, but it is a sunnah established by the Messenger of Allah. A sunnah refers to any action or saying of Prophet Muhammad that has been recorded in hadith literature and which Muslims are encouraged to follow. This means that although Muslims are not required to perform witr, they should still strive to do so as it was something practiced and encouraged by the Prophet himself. Additionally, this hadith also serves as a reminder for us all to be mindful of our actions and words; if we want our children or those around us to follow certain practices then we must first set an example ourselves.
