Praying Asr Between Maghrib and Isha

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) was disturbed from his Asr prayer and he prayed it between Maghrib and Isha.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah said on the day of al-Ahzab: "They distracted us from the middle prayer, Asr prayer. May Allah fill their graves and houses with fire". Then he prayed 'Asr between the two evening prayers, between Maghrib and 'Isha'. Abu Mu'awiyah said on one occasion: ie, between Maghrib and 'Isha'.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنْ شُتَيْرِ بْنِ شَكَلٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْأَحْزَابِ شَغَلُونَا عَنْ الصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَى صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ مَلَأَ اللَّهُ قُبُورَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا قَالَ ثُمَّ صَلَّاهَا بَيْنَ الْعِشَاءَيْنِ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ و قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ مَرَّةً يَعْنِي بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's PBUH experience of being distracted from his Asr prayer on the day of al-Ahzab. He then prayed it between the two evening prayers, between Maghrib and 'Isha'. This hadith teaches us that we should not be easily distracted from our prayers no matter what happens around us. We should also strive to pray our prayers on time as instructed by Allah SWT in the Quran. Furthermore, this hadith also warns us against any kind of misdeeds or wrongdoings that may lead to Allah's wrath upon us in this world or in the hereafter.
