Following the Prophet in Turmoil

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was followed by Abu Bakr and Umar, but turmoil struck them and Allah will pardon whomever He wills.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Prophet came first, followed by Abu Bakr, and the third one was 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما). Then turmoil (fitnah) struck us; Allah will pardon whomever He will.
حَدَّثَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ ذَكَرَ خَلَفُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَبَقَ النَّبِيُّ وَصَلَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَثَلَّثَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ خَبَطَتْنَا أَوْ أَصَابَتْنَا فِتْنَةٌ يَعْفُو اللَّهُ عَمَّنْ يَشَاءُ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about following the example of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. It tells us that after the death of the prophet, his companions Abu Bakr and Umar were faced with turmoil or fitnah. Despite this difficult situation, Allah will forgive those who follow His commands. This hadith teaches us to remain steadfast in our faith even when faced with adversity and to trust that Allah will forgive us for our mistakes if we sincerely repent for them. We should also strive to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet as he was a role model for all Muslims.
