Praying Witr According to the Prophet's Instructions

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) commanded the people to pray Witr and gave instructions on how to do so.

It was narrated that a man from the tribe of Banu Asad said: 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) came out to us and said: The Prophet has enjoined Witr, and this is the time to pray Witr. O ibn Un-Nabbah, give the call to prayer.
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا، مِنْ عَنَزَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ قَالَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ أَمَرَ بِالْوَتْرِ ثَبَتَ وِتْرُهُ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةَ يَا ابْنَ النَّبَّاحِ أَذِّنْ أَوْ ثَوِّبْ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of praying witr, which is an extra prayer that Muslims perform at night after Isha prayer. It was narrated by a man from Banu Asad that Ali ibn Un-Nabbah came out to them and said that the Prophet Muhammad has commanded them to pray witr and gave instructions on how it should be done. He also instructed Ibn Un-Nabbah to give the call for prayer. This hadith teaches us about obedience towards Allah's commandments as well as following instructions given by His Messenger, peace be upon him. It also shows us how important it is for Muslims to perform their prayers regularly in order for them to stay connected with Allah Almighty.
