Musnad Ahmad 856 (Book 5, Hadith 285) #34511
Necessity of Wudoo for Madhi Emission

SUMMARY: Wudoo is necessary for madhi (seminal fluid) emission.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, and if I emitted madhi I would do ghusl, I told al-Miqdad to ask the Prophet about it. He smiled and said: 'Wudoo’ is due for that".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by 'Ali ibn Abi Talib and it talks about the necessity of wudoo for madhi emission. Madhi is a type of seminal fluid that is discharged from the body during sexual arousal or intercourse. According to this hadith, if one emits madhi then they must do wudoo in order to be considered clean and pure again. This hadith also implies that ghusl or full-body ablution may not be necessary in such cases as long as one does wudoo which involves washing certain parts of the body with water such as hands, face and feet. This hadith teaches us that we should take care to maintain our physical cleanliness at all times even if it means performing ritual ablutions more frequently than usual when needed.
