Forbidden Practices in Islam

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) cursed those who partake in activities such as usury, withholding zakah, and wailing for the deceased. He also forbade tattoos for adornment.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who pays it, the two who witness it, the one who writes it down, the woman who does tattoos and the woman who gets tattoos done for adornment, the one who withholds zakah, the one who marries a woman and divorces her so that she becomes permissible for her first husband, and the one for whom that is done, And he forbade wailing (for the deceased).
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ آكِلَ الرِّبَا وَمُوكِلَهُ وَشَاهِدَيْهِ وَكَاتِبَهُ وَالْوَاشِمَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةَ لِلْحُسْنِ وَمَانِعَ الصَّدَقَةِ وَالْمُحِلَّ وَالْمُحَلَّلَ لَهُ وَكَانَ يَنْهَى عَنْ النَّوْحِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is teaching us about certain practices that are forbidden in Islam. These include consuming riba or usury, paying it, witnessing it, writing it down; getting or giving tattoos for adornment; withholding zakah or obligatory charity; and marrying a woman and divorcing her so that she becomes permissible for her first husband. He also forbade wailing or lamenting for the deceased. All of these activities are considered sinful according to Islamic teachings and should be avoided by believers.
