The Sunnah of Witr Prayer

SUMMARY: Witr prayer is not obligatory but it is Sunnah and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray it.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: Witr is not a must like (obligatory) prayer, but it is Sunnah, so do not omit it. Shu'bah said: I found it written with me: And the Messenger of Allah prayed Witr.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray witr regularly following the example set by Prophet Muhammad PBUH .

EXPLANATIONS:
Witr prayer is a voluntary prayer that Muslims are encouraged to perform. It consists of an odd number of rak'ahs, usually three or five, and is performed after Ishaa’ prayers. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to pray witr regularly and encouraged his companions to do the same. He said “The witr prayer is a duty for every Muslim”. This hadith emphasizes the importance of performing this voluntary act as part of our faith in Islam and as an act of worshiping Allah Almighty. It also serves as a reminder that we should strive to follow the example set by our beloved Prophet Muhammad in all aspects of life, including religious practices such as praying witr regularly.
