Reciting the Quran with Moderation

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade people from raising their voices in reciting the Quran before and after Isha prayer, so as to not cause confusion among those praying.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah forbade a man to raise his voice in reciting the Qur'an before and after 'lsha', lest he cause his companions to make a mistake in their prayer".
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي الطَّحَّانَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ الرَّجُلُ صَوْتَهُ بِالْقُرْآنِ قَبْلَ الْعَتَمَةِ وَبَعْدَهَا يُغَلِّطُ أَصْحَابَهُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ‏.‏
