It was narrated from Zadhan that 'Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) drank whilst standing and the people looked at him as if they found it odd. He said: What are you looking at?

It was narrated from Zadhan that 'Ali bin Abi Talib drank whilst standing and the people looked at him as if they found it odd. He said to them, “What are you looking at? If I drink whilst standing, I saw the Prophet drink whilst standing, and if I drink whilst sitting, I saw the Prophet drink whilst sitting”. This hadith teaches us that we should follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet by doing what he did when it comes to drinking - whether it be while standing or sitting.
