The Consequences of Lying About Dreams

SUMMARY: Lying about one's dreams will be punished on the Day of Resurrection.

It was narrated from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه), from the Prophet , that he said: "Whoever lies about his dreams deliberately will be ordered to tie a grain of barley on the Day of Resurrection'.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى الثَّعْلَبِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ كَذَبَ فِي الرُّؤْيَا مُتَعَمِّدًا كُلِّفَ عَقْدَ شَعِيرَةٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is a warning from the Prophet Muhammad to those who lie about their dreams. It teaches us that lying is wrong and that it will have consequences in the afterlife. On the Day of Resurrection, those who have lied about their dreams will be asked to tie a grain of barley around their necks as punishment for their lies. This hadith reminds us that we should always tell the truth and not lie because our actions have consequences in this life and in the hereafter.
