This hadith is about the importance of carrying out the prescribed punishments for those who commit immoral actions. The Prophet Muhammad instructed Ali to carry out the hadd punishment on a servant who committed an immoral action, but only after her post partum bleeding had ended. This shows that even though it is important to punish those who do wrong, it is also important to be compassionate and understanding of their circumstances.
