QUICK LESSONS:
Follow justice & mercy while punishing someone .
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment for zina, which is a form of adultery. It was narrated from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib that a slave woman of theirs committed zina and became pregnant. When 'Ali went to the Prophet Muhammad, he advised him to wait until she gave birth and then flog her as punishment for her crime. This hadith teaches us that we should not take matters into our own hands when it comes to punishing someone who has committed a crime, but rather we should leave it up to those in authority who are better equipped to handle such matters in an appropriate manner. We also learn from this hadith that even though someone may have done something wrong, they still deserve respect and dignity as human beings and should be treated accordingly.
