The Testimony of Twelve Men at Ghadir Khumm

SUMMARY: On the day of Ghadir Khumm, Ali bin Abi Talib asked twelve men who had been at Badr if they heard the Prophet Muhammad say something and they testified.

Ziyad bin Abi Ziyad narrated. I heard ' Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) adjure the people and say: "I adjure you by Allah, did any Muslim man hear the Messenger of Allah say what he said on the day of Ghadir Khumm? And twelve men who had been at Badr stood up and testified.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْأَسْلَمِيَّ، حَدَّثَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَنْشُدُ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ أَنْشُدُ اللَّهَ رَجُلًا مُسْلِمًا سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ غَدِيرِ خُمٍّ مَا قَالَ فَقَامَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ بَدْرِيًّا فَشَهِدُوا‏.‏
