Prohibitions on Clothing and Recitation of Quran

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade 'Ali from reciting the Quran while bowing, wearing gold rings, garments made of a blend of linen and silk, or garments dyed with safflower.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah forbade me to recite Qur'an whilst bowing or to wear gold rings, garments made of a blend of linen and silk, or garments dyed with safflower.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَعَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ‏.‏
