Musnad Ahmad 606 (Book 5, Hadith 43) #34269
Dealing with Excessive Madhi

SUMMARY: The hadith is about 'Ali asking the Prophet ﷺ for advice on how to deal with excessive madhi, and the Prophet's response was to wash his private part and do wudoo.

It was narrated that 'Ali(رضي الله عنه) said: I was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi, but I felt too shy to ask the Prophet about that because of the position of his daughter, so I told al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad to ask him, and he said: 'Let him wash his private part and do wudoo’'.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about 'Ali, who was a man who emitted a great deal of madhi. He felt too shy to ask the Prophet for advice on how to deal with it because of the position of his daughter. So he asked al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad instead, and he told him that he should wash his private part and do wudoo. This hadith teaches us that we should not be ashamed or embarrassed when seeking advice from those more knowledgeable than us, even if they are in a higher position than us. It also teaches us that washing our private parts and doing wudoo can help reduce excessive madhi.
