Praising Abdullah bin Mas'ood

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) highly praised Abdullah bin Mas'ood and said that if he had to appoint someone to a position of authority, he would have chosen him.

It was narrated that 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'If I were to appoint anyone to a position of authority without consulting the believers, I would have appointed Ibn Umm 'Abd (Abdullah bin Mas'ood)'.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ لَوْ كُنْتُ مُؤَمِّرًا أَحَدًا دُونَ مَشُورَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَأَمَّرْتُ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ‏.‏

This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's high praise for Abdullah bin Mas'ood. He said that if he were to appoint someone to a position of authority without consulting the believers, he would have appointed Ibn Umm 'Abd. This shows how much respect and admiration the Prophet had for Ibn Umm 'Abd and how highly he thought of him. It also teaches us that we should always consult with others before making decisions, especially when it comes to matters of authority or leadership. We should also strive to be like Ibn Umm 'Abd in our character and conduct so that we can be worthy of such praise from Allah and His Messenger.
