Sahih al-Bukhari 3580 (Book 61, Hadith 89) #3421
The Prophet's Generosity in Paying Off Debts

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) helped Jabir pay off his father's debt by blessing the date palms and ensuring that the creditors were paid their rights.

Narrated Jabir: My father had died in debt. So I came to the Prophet and said, "My father (died) leaving unpaid debts, and I have nothing except the yield of his date palms; and their yield for many years will not cover his debts. So please come with me, so that the creditors may not misbehave with me". The Prophet went round one of the heaps of dates and invoked (Allah), and then did the same with another heap and sat on it and said, "Measure (for them)". He paid them their rights and what remained was as much as had been paid to them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Turn to Allah in times of need , Be generous & kind-hearted towards those who are distressed , Be responsible with finances & not take on more than you can handle or borrow more than you can repay .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ helped Jabir pay off his father's debt. When Jabir came to him, he was worried about how he would be able to pay off his father's debt with only the yield of his date palms. However, when the Prophet ﷺ blessed both of these heaps of dates, they yielded enough for him to pay back all of his creditors and still have some left over. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn to Allah in times of need and trust in His mercy and generosity. It also shows us how generous and kind-hearted our beloved prophet was towards those who were in need or distress; even if it meant going out of his way to help them out financially. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about being responsible with our finances; as it is important for us not to take on more than we can handle or borrow more than we can repay.
