The Power of Prayer and Wudu

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that if one performs wudu and prays their obligatory prayer, their sins will be forgiven.

It was narrated from Humran, the freed slave of 'Uthman, that 'Uthman bin 'Affan said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever does wudoo’ and does it properly, then goes to offer an obligatory prayer and offers it, his sins will be forgiven".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the power of prayer and wudu in Islam. It was narrated by Humran who was a freed slave of Uthman bin Affan. Uthman bin Affan heard the Prophet Muhammad say that whoever does wudoo properly and then offers an obligatory prayer will have their sins forgiven. Wudoo is a ritual cleansing performed before prayers which involves washing certain parts of the body with water or sand in a specific order. Obligatory prayers are five daily prayers which Muslims must perform at specific times throughout the day as prescribed by Allah in the Quran. Through this hadith we learn that if we perform our wudoo properly and offer our obligatory prayers then Allah will forgive us for our sins no matter how big or small they may be. This is an important reminder to all Muslims to take advantage of this opportunity to seek forgiveness from Allah through prayer and wudo every day!
