Lying About the Prophet is Forbidden

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warned against deliberately lying about him, and said that those who do so will go to Hell.

It was narrated that 'Uthman bin 'Affan (رضي الله عنه) said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever tells a lie about me deliberately, let him take up his abode in Hell'.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَبِيرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَنْ تَعَمَّدَ عَلَيَّ كَذِبًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ بَيْتًا فِي النَّارِ‏.‏

This hadith warns us against telling lies about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is important to remember that we should never lie about anyone, but especially not about the Messenger of Allah. If someone does tell a lie about the Prophet, they will have to face a severe punishment in Hell. We must always strive to speak truthfully and kindly when talking or writing about others, including the beloved Messenger of Allah. We should also take care not to spread any false information or rumors that could hurt someone's reputation or cause confusion among people.
