Musnad Ahmad 443 (Book 4, Hadith 40) #34114
Praying Like A Resident

SUMMARY: Uthman bin Affan was criticized for praying four rak'ahs in Mina, but he defended himself by citing a hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that whoever takes a wife in a city should offer the prayer of one who is a resident.

'Abdullah bin 'AbdurRahman bin Abi Dhubab narrated from his father that 'Uthman bin 'Affan (رضي الله عنه) prayed four rak'ahs in Mina and the people objected to that. He said: O people, I have taken a wife in Makkah since I came here, and I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Whoever takes a wife in a city should offer the prayer of one who is a resident (ie, in full).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of prayer and how it should be done according to Islamic teachings. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that if someone takes a wife in any city, they should offer their prayers as if they were residents of that city. In this case, Uthman ibn 'Affan was criticized for offering four rak'ahs in Mina, but he defended himself by citing this hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This teaches us to always follow Islamic teachings and not be swayed by criticism or objections from others when it comes to our religious practices. It also shows us how important prayer is and how we must take it seriously no matter where we are or what situation we find ourselves in.
