Following in the Footsteps of the Prophet

SUMMARY: Umar bin al-Khattab saw the Prophet Muhammad kissing the Black Stone and followed suit.

It was narrated that Hisham said: My father told me that 'Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) said to the Black Stone; You are only a stone; were it not that I saw the Messenger of Allah kiss you, I would not have kissed you. Then he kissed it.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَّ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لِلْحَجَرِ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ حَجَرٌ وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ يُقَبِّلُكَ مَا قَبَّلْتُكَ ثُمَّ قَبَّلَهُ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how 'Umar ibn Al Khattab, a companion of Prophet Muhammad, saw him kiss the Black Stone and followed suit. The stone is located in Ka'bah, a holy site for Muslims located in Makkah. This hadith teaches us to follow in the footsteps of our beloved prophet and to respect all holy sites as they are sacred to us as Muslims. It also teaches us that we should not be afraid to show our love for Allah by following His commands even if it may seem strange or unusual at first glance. We should always strive to do what is right and good according to Islamic teachings no matter what others may think or say about it.
