Sleeping Before Ghusl

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised that if someone is in a state of ritual impurity and wishes to sleep before performing the ritual bath, they should perform ablution as for prayer and then sleep.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that 'Umar bin al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) said: I asked the Messenger of Allah : O Messenger of Allah , if one of us wants to sleep before doing ghusl when he is junub, what should he do? He said: 'Let him do wudoo’ as for prayer, then sleep".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the importance of ritual purity in Islam. It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that Umar bin al-Khattab asked the Prophet Muhammad about what one should do if they are in a state of ritual impurity but wish to sleep before performing ghusl, which is the full body ablution required for purification. The Prophet advised that one should perform wudoo, which is an ablution performed for prayer, and then go to sleep. This hadith teaches us that even when we are not able to perform ghusl due to time constraints or other reasons, we must still strive to maintain our spiritual purity by performing wudoo before sleeping. It also emphasizes the importance of maintaining cleanliness and purity according to Islamic teachings.
