Seeking Lailatul Qadr in Ramadan

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Muslims to seek the Night of Power (Lailatul Qadr) in the odd-numbered nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever among you is seeking Lailatul Qadr, let him seek it in the odd-numbered nights of the last ten days of Ramadan'.
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مُلْتَمِسًا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَلْيَلْتَمِسْهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ وِتْرًا‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking Lailatul Qadr during the month of Ramadan. Lailatul Qadr is a special night that occurs during the last ten days of Ramadan and it is believed to be better than a thousand months. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Muslims to seek this night in the odd-numbered nights as it could be any one of them. This hadith teaches us that we should strive for spiritual growth and take advantage of every opportunity we get to do so, especially during this blessed month when our prayers are more likely to be accepted by Allah SWT.
