Listen respectfully when someone in authority speaks; Act upon beneficial instructions given by those in authority; Follow instructions given by those in power.

This hadith tells us about how important it is to listen to and obey what is said by those who are in authority. In this case, it was a document that was read out by a freed slave named Shadeed on behalf of Abu Bakr, who was the successor of Prophet Muhammad. Qais saw 'Umar with a leafless palm branch in his hand telling people to sit down and listen to what was being said. This shows us that we should always be respectful when someone in authority speaks, as they have been chosen for their position for a reason. We should also take heed from their words and act upon them if they are beneficial for us.
